Drama or Depth?

Earlier this week we talked about the roar versus regulation as it relates to the concept of courage. Then we considered reactivity versus rhythm in sound waves as a metaphor for the same general message.

Today I want to add another frame.  High drama versus genuine depth. Both are powerful. Both are water in this metaphor.

One demands attention. The other holds steady. A crashing wave is dramatic and loud. It commands the eye.

Depth works differently. Yes, “still waters run deep,” but that depth is not about performance. It is about steadiness and reliability when and where they matter.

A calm sea is not weak. It is simply not fighting against itself. Drama surges while depth sustains. Either way, though, it is hard to look away.

Our culture often rewards spectacle, but it’s important to remember that real courage is not spectacle at all. It is strength guided by wisdom. It is the kind of power that holds steady and washes over everyone with reassurance.

A wave that crashes may look stronger. But it is the steady movement of the tides that shapes the shoreline over time. That is the kind of deep and abiding courage we are working to cultivate at ChangemakerYOU.

That kind of courage helps us keep our hopes up!
